The fan of the week is Vietnam War veteran Sgt. Joseph Michael Hauer.
He was nominated by his son Joe. Hauer served as an 0311 from 1963-1972 with three combat tours in Vietnam. On his last tour he was awarded a Bronze Star with a Combat V and the Purple Heart.

Hauer's Bronze Star citation stated his men were on point and got in an ambush, so he countered it, was shot in the process, and still continued effectively engage and lead his men for three days before getting pulled out.

Hauer recently passed away, but his courageous example lives on through
those he led.
