Yeoman Warders have been guarding the Tower of London since Tudor times. Nicknamed 'Beefeaters', the Yeoman Body of 32 men and women are all drawn from the Armed Forces.
The role of Yeoman Warder, or 'Beefeater' as they are popularly known, was created in 1485 by Henry VII – but the role can trace its origins back to the band of warders who guarded the Tower of London and its prisoners from the reign of William the Conqueror.
