The Elizabeth line in London has 70 nine-car trains, each called British Rail Class 345 Aventra, that can carry up to 1,500 passengers. The trains are air-conditioned, have walk-through carriages, and can travel up to 90 miles per hour. They also have information screens, wheelchair spaces, and separate areas for luggage and buggies.
The trains were built by Bombardier Transportation between 2015 and 2019 as part of the Crossrail project. The first unit began service in June 2017, and in June 2024, an additional 10 units were ordered for delivery in 2026, bringing the total fleet to 80.
The Elizabeth line is a new railway that runs between Paddington in west London and Abbey Wood in the east, mostly underground with some above-ground sections. It's part of the TfL network and connects with the London Underground, DLR, London Overground, and National Rail services
