My Dad and I saw this film together I was just
13 years old at the time .I turned to look at my Dad at the end of the movie and discovered that we both had tears streaming down our faces. Daddy said, Carmen "this young man is a wonderful new talent." The very next day as my Dad was driving me to school the announcement came over the radio that James Dean had been killed in the early hours of the morning in a car accident on the road to Salinas. He was to have competed in a car racing event.East of Eden had been filmed in that same area of Northern California. Fate had taken him from us too soon!
