Splendor In The Grass

The years of young love –
still yet remain in our two hearts,
still the same bond of tenderness,
never to be pulled apart.

Looking back on those years –
young and innocent we were,
dancing beneath those blue skies –
swirling each other around,
till all was a blur.

Singing songs and melodies –
to the music of the wind,
while nature look upon us –
watching young love begin.

Reeling in the summers breeze -
so mindful of our hands embraced,
our hearts locked together –
as my fingers softly touched your face.

Feeling the oncoming of warmth –
rushing through our veins,
stimulating unknown pulses –
that our love would forever remain.

Shy but not inhibited –
just enjoying each other’s touch,
I could only muster soft little kisses –
but you loved them so very much.

Heavens voice gave birth to love –
on that bright summer day,
and chimes of the wind –
have never gone away.

The young love back then –
still lives in our hearts this day,
that eternal flame still enkindled –
as we still dance and sway.

Thanking God, still today –
a love that was meant to last,
still embedded in our hearts –
our splendor in the grass!
